My older cousin, Madi Healey, is drawn to the creative arts like myself. We’ve both grown up around creative people and so naturally being creative is what we love to do. Madi has recently discovered the world of polymer clay and began to experiment with it, creating funky patterned earrings and groovy fruits. Pushing the boundaries of her imagination, designing new ideas in her sketch pad and transferring them into physical wearable jewelry with the polymer clay.
I’ve always been inspired by Madi’s artistic creations. As a kid I looked up to my older cousin as an idol to inspire to be more like and for inspiration, to push the boundaries of what I could do and what I could create on paper. As I’ve grown, Madi has continued to push the limits of her creativity. Her sketches turned to painting in college, then to digital art and collage. But just last year she discovered the small group of people who love making jewelry from polymer clay and she hasn’t looked back since. Slowly opening a business called ‘Starspun Sugar’ and beginning to sell her jewelry creations. She’s set up an instagram account (@starspun_sugar) in order to grow her following, and get her creations and ideas to more people across the globe.
I want to be able to support and promote my cousin’s newfound passion and business in any way I can. Which I’ve been doing by advertising her business on my account and modeling earrings for her on her bussinesses instagram. She’s incredibly talented, passionate and creative and deserves to go far. I’m so happy for her that she’s been able to find a calling for her creativity and proud that’s she’s had the courage to start her own jewelry business in this competitive creative world.
