ABOUT ME

my name Belinda

My name is Belinda Plange but my friends and family call me Bell., I was born and raised in Ghana, where weaving is a way of life. I love bringing together culture & art to create beautiful handwoven baskets and other products from elephant grass.

My father was a sports man whilst my mum was a weaver, so I was passionate about both. I was torn in between sporting activities and helping mother split and twist straws for weaving. however I initially did a sport and recreation qualification and am finally now pursuing my other passion in art.

My aim is to move from the Ghanaian traditional weaving patterns to designing my own patterns. I am interested in exploring combining contemporary Maori kowhaiwhai patterns.

I am excited about this blog, so stay turned.
