Here is my new planner status. I am slowly but surely catching up on everything. I have completed my model rigging and am now turning my attention to the animation side of things. As can be seen below I have made updates to my planner to reflect the extension given.
After starting this week with updating my planner it is time to start on the animation planning. I have spent some time continuing to look at different examples of body movement and in the process have gained an idea of what actions I would like my character to perform. Actions I would like to have in my animation are walking, stretching, pondering, and kneeling. I will also be changing the characters facial expressions to match the actions.
Following this I have created a storyboard based upon these actions I have been looking at and selected for my animation.
One thing I have realised I forgot to do its add some facial rigging in. As a result this has taken up quite a bit of time this week. For the eyes I have created a couple of simple controls which use a ‘Damped Track’ constraint to make the eyeballs follow them. This can be seen below.
I have spent quite some time adding in shape keys in three areas. The first is on the eyes. I have setup shapes keys to blink the eyelid which includes moving both the eyelid and the eyebrow. The below clip show my closing the eyes as well as being capable of widening them.
For the purpose of this setup I have just given the mouth the capability of smiling. Though if I had the time I could do dozens of different mouth expressions. The following clip shows my using the shape key I’ve created on the mouth to make the character smile.
The last area I decided to add a shape key on is the brow to allow for a bit of a frown.
