This is my first post for Level 5 Communications ð
We were asked to create a post about something that inspired us or what we learnt in class. During the day, something that really stood out to me was the quote, “Kia whakatÅmuri te haere whakamua,” or, “I walk backwards into the future with my eyes fixed on my past.”
This created really rich imagery in my mind, with a figure walking backwards uncertainly, looking towards their past for reassurance, learning from what they had already accomplished to move forwards. I think it indicates they are unsure of the times ahead or where they are going, but knowing that they made it this far and can continue forwards with the help from past experiences which made them who they are today.
I think we should take this quote with us, so that we can move forward, knowing that we are who we are because of our past actions, mistakes, and achievements. We need to look behind us to go into the future, learn from our errors, and find the things that worked while using them in a new light.
A small example could be that a student didn’t manage to hand an assessment in on time. They have another one coming up, and know that they need to get it in by the due date. Looking back, they can reflect on the past to realise that they are able to improve on their time management to help get the assessment in on time.
Overall, I think this is a very inspiring quote that peaked my interest during Mondays’ lessons!
