I am very used to using stock photos to create my compositions but I feel this is becoming a crutch that I depend on. It also limits what I can create. If I can confidently create my own phot assists then I will be more open to creative freedom. I have a long way to go but I have learnt allot over the last few weeks. here a few things I have been looking into and how I could apply this to my craft.
Directional Lighting
When experimenting with different Directional lighting on the same subject it has thought me a bunch about the psychological impact of light.
Side Light Bottom light back light
Bottom light creates a spooky effect on the subject. I think that this is because we don’t see people lit from the bottom very often and the shadows distort the face.
Back light Makes the subject look like it is coming towards you. if you turned the light up to make a silhouette it can also make the subject more mysterious.

With this you can use any of those effects to create an emotional response from the viewer. for this experiment I decided to go with the Top right Light so I could make my image for menacing and dramatic.
I put the figure In front of a forest background and then added mist to make it look spookier. I also turned the contrast up to make the image pop more

Spooky boy is now Spooky.
Now all we got to turn is make this a square and slap on some text and we have an album cover.
