The following blog will look over 2 points. From the group project that our class has been given how effective has my team been and how important is it to have an effective and efficient team.
Part 1: Using the following questions, describe the effectiveness and efficiency of your team so far.
What makes an ineffective team?
I feel what makes an ineffective team, and specifically for our team is lack of purpose and goals. A team needs to have clear and concise goals to work up towards with meaningful benefits. With our group we did not make our goals and deadline clear or assign distinct roles for each other in the early stages in our project. As a result when crunch time came along, work was not evenly distributed and the dynamic of the group became unbalanced for a period of time.
How do you overcome ineffective team members?
In our situation, we overcame this by a sprint to the finish as a group. In the end we assigned roles to each other and made it clear what we needed done. The goal was in mind for all of us and so each member understood their purpose and as a result their productivity increased.
What makes a good team?
Clear communication in general and of what roles members have and having all team members on board with tasks that lead to an achievable goal.
How can you make the team better?
Next time I, myself, would put in extra milestones/goals in place and have better communication with the group. By better communication I would say that what was needed was frequenter meetings and “stand ups” to show our progress.
What makes a great team?
I would say awareness of all team members on where they are at within the project and their mental motivation. Team awareness is something that shouldn’t just be applied to the team leader. Instead, all team members should mutually and openly take part in being aware of each others progress.
How can you keep the team great?
Being mindful of the factors stated before keeps a team in an powerful momentum where productivity thrives.
How can teams work effectively and efficiently?
Again. I believe that clear communication of goals and progress is being made on a frequent basis. This keeps the project the team is working on the priority in what needs to get done in their work situation.
With this having awareness of where everyone is at is key.
Part 2: How important is it to have an effective and efficient team in your:
– current COM502 class?
– overall certificate/diploma/degree programme?
– potential future employment?
It is important. I feel that in future employment effective and efficient teamwork is the most needed with my overall certificate/diploma/degree programme in 2nd.
In my current job position having good communication with co workers is needed at the moment. We each have about 5 cleaning jobs we need to get done in our shift and also be serving customers. Being aware of what my co workers have completed is important so we can work around making time to fit all the cleaning jobs needed to be done before the end of our shift.
Conclusion
Teams and more teams. Why do we need teams? Work has the potential to get done quickly with a team. Sometimes, a project is only possible if done with a team. however a team will only be effective if there is good communication in place and so it is of my belief that the goal of our projects given to us has established the importance of such.
