Kelly McKernan is an illustrator from Nashville, Tennessee, who loves to use watercolor and acrylic to create lovely pieces that are mostly based in fantasy, fairy tale, and mythology.
Kelly’s work always revolves around two forces, women and the world.
Whether it be a challenge they are faced with or they are in complete harmony with the world these two are always very defined, I often picture the subject thinking about what exists outside themselves just with the way she presents her subjects and their surroundings.
I take a lot of inspiration from Kelly’s work in how she incorporates her fantasy world with real-world experiences, myself as an inspiring artist am learning how to express my thoughts through my artwork. Kelly is a fantastic example of illustrating the challenges we face but taking you on a magical journey at the same time, of course, the interpretation of the work is different for everyone but still relatable.
This is one of the many reasons I would love to promote her work because a lot of it does not get the credit it deserves, her work is well known over media websites but Kelly, this lovely, talented blossoming flower of a women is not, I’m making it my mission to get her name out there so she can get all the credit that is well needed for someone with such a natural talent for expressing our everyday challenges in such a magical way.
